Can Somebody Please Tell Me

What the f*ck is a "Shake n Steak?" LOL. I saw a few of those since being in Da Lou and then saw a commercial. I'm still laughing from that. *chuckle* Every time I say the name, I crack up. "Welcome to the midwest Dorothy."

Product De Jour

Right before we moved I "discovered" a new brand of baby food for the littlest DOD who is learning how to find her cute little baby mouth with her hands. Usually for the other 3 DOD I got the WholeFoods baby food or some other version they offered. And as you know pretty much all baby food is the same, unless you making that sh*t yourself. (and yes I've done that too but I'm lazy). So while at the WholeFoods in Redmond, WA - which you could walk to from our old home - I stumbled upon a new breed of baby food. It looked interesting and figured when baby Asaria was old enough I'd give it a try. Well that time came sooner rather than later.

The week we were to relocate I was shopping for some food we could take with us for our hotel days. And decided to grab some of the "new" baby food I'd seen some months before. When I got it home and gave it to Asaria she seemed to really like it. Well as the days went on the only baby food she'd had was the new stuff and of course it eventually ran out. And when I try to put some "regular peas" into her mouth - why did my baby purse her lips together? LOL. She was not having it. *chuckle* So I KNEW I had to get my hands on some more of the "wonder" baby food. And to our dismay EVERY WholeFoods doesn't sell it. Why? Because it's a Seattle based company. But thanks to modern technology we were able to order some jars from the internet.

Without further rambling from me, my Product De Jour is . . . . . . .*drum rolling* LOL . . . . . PLEASE believe me when I say my baby literally wolfed down the entire jar. Not only that but she wanted more. The great thing is they come in these wonderful flavors like "Baby Dahl" and "Tokoyo Tum Tum" and it's all organic and exposes your baby to different types of foods. Foods that we typically don't think a baby would eat. Needles to say that after we left Washington we had to HURRY and buy more because our baby won't eat the "other" jar foods anymore. And yes my azz still has a small jar of peas or spinach and NO Asaria will NOT eat it. *chuckle*

So for any of you moms or moms to be, check it out. Not sure if it's sold at any other WholeFoods besides the ones in WA. But you can definitely get it from the internet. Trust me, your child will thank you.

My Addictions

Well in the years that I've been with my hubby, I've noticed that my food addictions have changed. Not from bad to worse, but bad to good. Cuz let me tell you, ya girl was a dayum "crackhead". That's what my hubby and I call foods with trans fat, high fructose corn syrup, white processed sugars, white flour, etc, etc and on and on. Let me tell you, my azz was ADDICTED. Not to the foods themselves, but to the crap that's put into the food. So upon us REALLY being together, we had a few food fights about what was gonna be brought into the house. And he's admitted that he even had to check himself on his "sugar juice" addictions.

So 4 babies and 7 years later (yeah it takes a minute to undo damage) I can happily say that I have healthy addictions that don't involve "crackish" foods. Cuz really, there are plenty of foods that's just as addictive as crack cocaine, if not more so. Sounds crazy huh? Don't believe me? Take all the "white" sugar foods (meaning processed) and white table sugar out of your diet for 7 days. And I mean all. Use sweet substitutes like Agave Nectar, unprocessed Raw Sugar and make sure products you buy don't have any processed sugars such as high fructose corn syrup or corn syrup. And see if after 7 days ya azz ain't itching for a fix. That's some real sh*t.

Okay so since I know my azz does struggle from time to time about wanting to "crack out" on some sugary sh*t (and I don't mean just sweet stuff, I'm talking bread, packaged goods ,etc) I avoid stuff that I'll inhale in 2 seconds and try to focus on stuff that's satisfying and healthy. And of course since my azz like to share, I thought I'd share my ABSOLUTE must haves in my frig and in my pantry - or I am NOT happy.

First I totally LOVE this drink. I can drink this all day long. It's great in the morning or afternoon when I don't want anything heavy or too "mealish" feeling on my tummy. I also love the hazel nut flavor. Sh*t who am I kidding, you really can't go wrong with ANY of their drinks. I just happen to prefer the coffee, milky type drinks. YUM!

Second, I've now turned into some kinda granola head (thanks to my mother). I'm now a fruit n' nut addict. My life is simply NOT right if I don't have my dayum granola. *shakin head* I mean it's really not. I'm so serious. I eat that sh*t like candy. *chuckle to self* I will get down with some banana nut too cuz the fruit n nut goes real fast.

Last, I avoided this drink for YEARS like the dayum plague. But one late night when I was particularly thirsty and didn't want to go down stairs to get water (yes I'm lazy) and truthfully my azz didn't want no water. I, out of desperation and thirst, sipped some of my hunny's kombucha tea. Well I actually gulped that sh*t down and you know what? It was HELLA good (that's Cali speak) *chuckle* He had divine grape and that sh*t was heavenly. Pared with the fact my azz was truly thirsty. So of course my flavor is Strawberry Serenity. It's something about red that just gets to me. *throaty laugh* LOL.

Of course now, these 4 items are my absolute MUST HAVES on my grocery, store run, you gotta go to the store now, list. So there you have it. The truth is out, ya girl is addicted to healthy sh*t. Ain't that something. LOL

That's All *glenn close, devil wears prada voice*

December Food News

Well as I stated before I'm keeping track of our food money to get a hold of why money run through here like bad diarrhea. (maybe I should have used another word *chuckle*). Okay so thus far for the month of December we've only spent $990.19. *clappin* I'm happy because that's waaaaay better than how we were doing about this time last month. And if I'm really honest, we spent well over the $1400 I added because by then I didn't add in the thanksgiving order and I still never found a missing receipt. I think what really and truly does help is planing out the meals. I know it sounds totally boring but it really helps. It does take a lil bit of time to actually sit down and research what you THINK you may want to eat during the week. But money is saved in the long run. And for us we don't waste as much food because we are buying what I intend to cook and not just whim shopping. Or picking up something because it looks good, then it sits in the frig for weeks on end. *shakin head*

So hopefully we won't have to pick up anything major from the market. Only small things, like milk or fruit and veggies. I did notice that when we shop weekly or every so many days - less money is spent. It's not like having a huge azz grocery list for the month (like we usually did) and spending a bunch of money. Then on top of that to keep going back to the grocery store the next week, and the next week and so on. Cuz you can't spend $500 and then turn around not even a whole week later and spend $250. That don't make sense. And that means we were doing something wrong. (yeah like my azz not cooking HA!) *chuckle to self*

Anyway, I'm up talking to myself like a dayum crackhead. Know my azz need to be in bed, plus my dayum neck hurt. *sigh* I'm done.

*nite, nite* Mama A.

In Ridiculous Food Bill News

So far the food bill for the month of November is up to $1,438.05. *lookin into camera* I decided not to even add in the dayum thanksgiving catering. That's just ridiculous. I now know where our dayum money goes. And mind you, this ain't eating out money. Ohhh cuz we don't get to do that here. *sigh* That's money that I could be saving for myself. I'ma have to go back to planning out the meals and buying food that way again. And also look up the local farms here to cut back on fresh food money.

*That's all* (yes I'm addicted)

Much todo about Nothing

I swear my azz watches entirely way to much teLIEtoMYvison cuz everything I think or say got something to do with some dayum t.v. *shakin head* Maybe I need a job outside the home. LOL.

In other news, I was trying to order some "ethnic" educational learning books for my older daughters. Well, actually I did order them like about October 10 or so. Well here it is a month later and guess what? Still no product. Now I'm a patient girl and know how it is if you a one man shop or even if you a conglomerate, sh*t happens. So I politely email regarding ship date and even called the Lansing, MI number listed and left a message. And guess what, I got no reply email and I never received a return phone call. So I'm going to email yet again and call again. But if I don't hear back from them after that, I'm just gonna have to get our money back. I mean $100 bucks ain't alot of money but dayum. Close your pay pal or something if you not in business anymore. Don't just take folks money and be done. Let me not jump ahead, maybe they had to rewrite the text or reorder cuz the text were on back order. Hopefully after I email and call again I'll get a response. I really do want those books. *sigh*

In holiday news with family, I'm trying to get my house in order so it will be ready for my parents and my sister when they touch down on Wednesday at 9am. Yes y'all their flight gets into Washington at 9am. Happy for me, bad for them. Cuz not only are they getting here early a.m. that day, but then they gotta go right to the grocery store and run a few errands. I suppose this is why my mom is not cooking. Altho to her credit she's cooked a holiday meal every year since I've been able to remember. It's only been within the last 3 years or so that my sister and I have done the cooking. My mom would just make the mac and cheese and the dressing, cuz don't nobody do it like her. We would have my dad do the ham or some greens and my sister and I would do whatever else we wanted on the menu. Well I tried to be slick this year since they were coming up here and not going to the yearly Native American
sunrise ceremony. I thought my mom would then cook. Ummm yeah, well that's what I get for thinking. Cuz she told me in a not so nice way that she was not cooking. LOL. My moms be having me rollin yall. She a got a gang of credentials and letters after her name, but she real folks and don't get caught up in titles or how you THINK you suppose to be because of such and such. Must be where I get it from. Both of my parents are like that. Like my daddy would always tell me "you catch more flies with honey than you do with salt" LOL. So anyway, as far as who's gonna be doing the REAL cooking I have to thank my friends cuz they're doing it all. I mean yeah I probably could get it started until my sister gets here. But dayum, I'm tryna do prep and pre-cooking all by myself until she gets here the day before. And then expect her to hit the ground running and cooking a bunch a sh*t. That ain't even right. I wouldn't put that on nobody. I probably wouldn't mind if I didn't have to also tend to my babies. I know my limits and ain't even tryna stress myself out over some food. Besides I don't want to be too tired to go here and here and maybe even make a last stop here once we get back on our side of town. Cuz who wants to miss black friday shopping cuz they was too tired from slaving in the dayum kitchen for 10 days and 10 nights?

And lastly in "my high azz food bill" news the new total (minus the 1 receipt I probably threw away) is now up to a whopping $703.40. And if you add in the holiday catering meal it's gonna be $920.84. And still, no food. We gonna be in trouble when our children become teenagers and really start eating all day, everyday. They azz gonna have to get a job to support our families food habit. LOL. I wonder how many other folks out there spend way more on food and other things than they think. I would never have known had I not made a conscious decision to keep the receipts so that I could see the dolla amount with my own eyes. *shakin head*

Okay folks, little Sumehra is wriggling and giggling (meaning feed me mommy) so I'm off. *That's all* ha!

Love, Mama Aly
